Volcano
By R. Cary
I have been waiting for this journey 22 years in the making
Halfway up I am almost there
A rumbling, a growling
Thunder rages beneath this terrain
Only upward I know the eruption will arrive
A volcano of ash waiting wanting to leave
Its ashes on this earth into my mind further
I have now arrived in this journey is truth
In this mountain I will live
Crushing its eternal molten seeking to destroy, implode
Reaching the top only one choice to give
I show no fear as I leap into the burning glare
A metaphor for our lives to face what rests deep within
Willing to face the crevasses of our lives
With the dignity of blind belief, no matter what our fears
In every step I will only seek that which requires
The strength of living in my blind faith
End
